Intermediate care

This is a good place overall to work. Most staff were very helpful to us travelers coming in, although there were a couple of problems. With travel nursing , especially travel/strike you have to remember that theer will be some conflict, but you have to remember to do your job to the best of your ability and forget about the noise floating around. It's a short assignment and if you just work hard you can get through it. Management was poor to say the least. I learned a lot of new skills refreshed myself with working codes to. The best part of the job was meeting new people and learning from them.

Great ER before the take over

For you basic emergency needs, SLH ER can't be beat! Knowledgable doctors who actually listen and run appropriate diagnostics and tests according to what the patient complaint is. So many others just give out an RX and be done with it. At first when Sutter moved in, things were fine. Slowly the talk of hospital closure came up here and there, and next thing you know we are fighting daily to keep our doors open. Sutter physicians were hired and the whole previously positive feel of the ER went downhill. Very sorry to have seen such a great community hospital succumb to such a huge corporation. If it's not broke, don't fix it. We were not broke but, alas, we were broken.
