The most unprofessional and scary place to work for an RN. The hardest part of this job was communicating with the weekly replacement for the management position.

a comfortable work environment

I love working at Alvarado Hospital because everyone there is like a family to me. There are days that it's really busy and everyone gets moody but we help each other to get the work done. The hardest part is writing the schedule for all the technicians (17 techs). The most enjoyable part is when the day is over, I felt accomplished and happy being part of a life saving team.

Alvarado is being investigated by the state about every 2 weeks for various issues.

My day would start by establishing a baseline assessment of my patient's current & prior diagnosis, their EKG, review of orders, labs. Ongoing evaluation of their vital signs, pain level, & responses to treatments, such as titration of vasoactive, or anticoagulation drips, & others. I made sure that treatment was given as ordered.My co-workers were friendly, competent, supportive, & assisted with turning patients every two hrs, & double checking medications that had that requirement.The charge nurses were very helpful & made sure employees were able to take their lunch & morning breaks.The hardest part of the job was trying to get supplies when the bin was empty, or equipment wasn't available or not functioning. There was frequent movement of patients, such as moving patients from SICU to MICU because the oxygen system being repaired or they were closing a unit. Since, they've been cited for too many patient falls, they now require hourly checks of 5 fall factors followed by a signiture required of every patient in critical care whatever their Morris Fall Scale Score is.The most enjoyable part of my job was interacting with my fellow employees, patients , & their families, & hearing their appreciation for my service to them.
