Great Company to work for.

I have received much knowledge and education from SH&W including Management skills, grant writing and management, marketing not to mention education and ability to be proficient in public speaking and education.Love to educate and present. Enjoyed managing employees through motivation and team effort.

Working at shannon was the best experience i have had i loved learning new things the Registered Nurese and L.V.N's were all great!

where is the compassion?

Joined my sister, who is one of Dr Duarte's pt (Neuro), for her 2 day post op f/u appt for JP drainage removal and the nurse attending her failed miserably. Not only was she careless, she never prepared (verbally) my sister (the patient) what to expect or do during tube removal. We walked into appt expressing concern for my sisters continuous pain level even with pain meds on board and the nurse (Elizabeth) response was that it was normal and that high pain levels normally last 2 weeks before subsiding or decreasing. I then asked my sister to voice what she was feeling since she was experiencing this shooting pain in her leg which kept her up all night and again, Elizabeth was short and hurried with saying "yeah, that's normal". The nurse again seemed hurried and quickly donned gloves and removed tape then began pulling the tube out, my sister hollered "it hurts, I can't" and Elizabeths response was "YES YOU CAN, TAKE A DEEP BREATH". As a nurse if you lose your compassion and empathy towards pts especially when they're hurting, then you need to find a different career!! The visit was very short and rushed as Elizabeth quickly stated that my sisters incision site looked good but didn't even bother helping my sister off the examination table, clearly seeing and knowing that my sister was moving very slowly and with an assisted device. Elizabeth said she would let "Kara know about our concerns and we'd get a call" but as of now, no call has occurred. We understand that lots of clinics and hospitals are short staffed and what not, but that is no excuse for lack of compassion or empathy! Every pt should be prepared verbally prior to any procedure even if it seems minor to the medical staff....this way the pt knows what to expect. An apology from staff indirectly comforts pts and really goes a long way.....even when the pain is still present. But to leave a medical clinic worse than when walking is truly unacceptable. Shannon please do better for all the upcoming pts!!!
