Messy Mix

Stephens Memorial Hospital is a rural, community hospital. The best thing about working for this small hospital is the job that I do matters to the people of this community. The closest hospital is 45 minutes away and this hospital is a neccesity. The reward for serving the community makes up for the lack of compensation and benefits. Job security is lacking. The hospital is not making money and recently had to approach the county for money to make payrole. There is no advancement opportunities. Management does not promote work/life balance, they only care about not having to staff and will leave you. The people who work at Stephens Memorial are some of the most dedicated, caring people I have ever known. They work here because they love the job. Benefits and compensation is lacking and this is the dedication is evident because employees stay.
