It is frowned upon for travel nurses to take sick days since you are not the facility's permanent RN and in fact covering already in the position of one that may already be on sick leave. Due to contracts, you might receive a financial repercussions for missing a day since travel expenses, housing, and hours are already calculated with those hours missed. Agencies won't collect the money from the hospital when travel nurses are absent so therefore, there might be a penalty charged.
