Productive and a really nice place to work

I started out as a Certified Nurses Assistant on the Medical Surgical Unit learning all the responsibilities of being a successful employee. I learned how to fulfill the Nurses direct orders that had to be completed on patient, medical terminology, how to operate computer for input of patient information, etc. My coworkers and I had a very positive relationship. The hardest part of the job was seeing patients diagnosed with different incurable diseases. The most enjoyable part of the job was gaining positive relationships with my patients and them knowing that some people do care. I also worked in their Telecommunication Department as a switchboard operator for the hospital and doctors offices.

Great and helpful environment

I learned a great deal in the acute care setting and focused mainly with patients recovering from orthopedic surgeries and also with patients in the PCU and ICU with various illnesses and diagnoses. I presented on the importance and efficiency of the Kettle Test for the inpatient OT, while also comparing and contrasting the MOCA and Mini-mental tests. I observed 5 orthopedic surgeries under Dr. Ben Domb and followed the patients throughout recovery while in the hospital, providing occupational therapy.

Upbeat and productive work environment

I managed the Continuing Medical Education (CME) department for the Adventist Health System - Midwest Region. This included the medical staffs of Hinsdale Hospital, LaGrange Memorial Hospital and Glen Oaks Hospital. A regular day would find me reaching out to pharmaceutical representatives to assist in bringing experienced, national level educational speakers to our chosen venues. Once a program was developed by the director, learning objectives were developed by the CME committee and presented to the speaker for review. Typically I would coordinate department meeting programs as well as evening dinner programs. Maintaining accreditation with the Illinois State Medical Society was integral to the success of this program. I enjoyed the interaction I had with staff physicians, physician leaders, national speakers and the organization representatives that financially supported our program.

Great place to work

There is not really typical day. There are varying situation that may occur depending on the day. Some days challenging but I have a team that is very strong and hard working behind me to ensure that the job get done. The beginning of the shift disinfecting and sterilizing the medical equipment, taking vital signs and assisting patients through basic needs.I learn how to monitor and record vital signs, temperature, blood pressure, pulse, and performing CPR and first aid.The management is very good motivating the co-worker. Management are making sure we are achieving the goal of the patients and coworkers.My co-workers are a great team to work with. we have learned to work as a team.The hardest part of my job is moving patients because it very hard on your back.The most enjoyable part of my job is I look at my job as I'm helping someone whom needs it. I love working with the Older patients they are so sweet.

Great hospital to work for

I learned so much as a young CNA and nurse. They have accommodated my schedule going to school full time and working for them full time.
