I felt I was challenged in all the areas I worked as an RN.

As you can tell by my resume, I worked in several areas as an RN. I will tell you about a typical day as a Nursing Supervisor. I would get report from the previous supervisor and go over staffing for my shift and the next shift. We would discuss the highlights on the nursing units, not each individual patient. When report was done, I would reassess staffing for the next shift to see where the holes were. I would then make rounds on the nursing units to see if there were any issues such as unstable patients, and then go see the patient for an assessment. I would assess with the RN if the doctor should be notified. If the unit had a difficult IV start, which they were unable to start, I would start the line. If the staff had issues with supplies or equipment for the patients I would educate them. I would schedule emergent OR and cath lab and call in O/C staff.If a unit was having a busy shift, I would try to get them extra staff, as long as the budget would allow. If there was no available staff, I would talk to the charge RN and see where I would be able to help out. At the end of the shift, I would do an administrative report which goes to administration, managers and directors. If there were any big issues on a unit, I would call the manager or leave an e-mail, so they were informed what happened on the off shift.The nursing supervisor staff were great team players. There were only 6 of us to cover 3p-11p, 11p-7a, week-ends and holidays. If one of us called in sick, we would fill in the call-in however we could , (ex. 2,4,6 hour shift), due to limited number of supervisors.The most difficult part of the job was staffing. Just as soon as you think you had enough staff, someone would call-in or not show up for a shift. If there was noone to fill the shift, I would call the manager for their input to fill the hole.The most enjoyable part of the job was the self satisfaction of knowing that you did the best you could do with the resources you had.

most of time fun workplace

getting patients ready for surgery discharging the patients cleaning the rooms Ive learned a lot about medications, Management is okay I keep saying I need some day hours to get stuff done that I need so my son can start school on time in august and its like beating your head against a wall. some of the co workers are awesome some are lazy. there really isn't anything hard about my job. the most enjoyable part of my job is helping the good nurses and helping the patients I love the hands on

unfair on senior employees who have worked there for 14 years or more

during my 14 years in serving for Hinsdale Hospital I found company to be wanting in dealing with many issues when it came with quality of service and fearness to employee.1 unwilling in recognising potential2 unwilling to place the employees wher they can perform3 cutting down staff and material to better serve patients4 Hiring managers that are not familiar with the job at hand or no noledge in what the position they have requires in other words (incompetency)5 discharging employees without giving warning verbal, written or otherwise7 unwilling to give any pay raise, even if ones as earned it.

I made life long friends at Hinsdale Hospital. A great group of caring nurses made my job likeable. I did not trust management however.

The core of the oncology unit was a dynamic, loving, care group of employees that consistently gave excellent care to critically ill, neutropenic patients.

Neglectful Dr.’s

The nurses are great. The Dr.’s on call are neglectful. Nurses calling the Dr. for 8 hours, and counting, to no avail. Dr. Refuses to answer or respond to patient needs. Dr. Gautam is the on call Dr. today and refuses to answer the nurses calls or check on patients.
