Medical Surgical Nurse

I worked on 5 South which was a very busy unit. Management there was always visible on the floor and the teamwork was strong. This unit offered a lot to me by building skills. There were seasoned nurses there willing to precept even past the orientation which was a blessing being a new nurse at the time.

RED FLAG - DON'T WORK HERE AS AN RN!!!

Worked in ICU at this facility for 2 months before leaving. Seasoned nurses were fired over nothing. Many employees transferred to other departments to get away from new ICU director. Since April of 2011, VERY high turnover of RNs in ICU. Went out for back surgery in April 2012, and was terminated because MD wanted me to do a month of physical therapy before going back. Had to start all over with new insurance with deductibles and out-of-pocket max had been met. Sucked! Was told eligible for rehire, but when I have applied I have heard nothing. Management lies to your face when it is in their best interest. Extremely unprofessional management in multiple departments, but ICU is the worst! I will never work there again!
