Med Surg travel RN needed in Oak Creek, Wisconsin - ID: 44959382 Shift: 3rd 2 years experience required13 weeks Mornings - 0700-1930, every other weekend 3x12 Hr Description: Performs primary nursing functions of assessing, planning, directing, and evaluating patient care in the Inpatient Unit to patients of all ages suffering from various types of illness or trauma. The RN serves as a professional role model by collaborating with clinical and front office staff, administration and other professional disciplines to ensure effective patient care is delivered to optimal patient outcomes. Other Duties as assigned. Demonstrate ability to manage care within the established standards of nursing care and practice as defined by the state of Wisconsin. Delivers continuous competence in caring for individuals based upon age-specific needs. Appropriately triages patient and prioritizes needs, displaying a caring and responsive attitude. Conducts all activities respecting patient, family, and employee rights and expectations, realizing that primary patient needs take precedence. Provides basic bedside care and administer treatments under the direct supervision of the physician, anticipating patient needs and responding accordingly. Initiates care to stabilize patient and assist in managing life support needs by collaborating with physician and clinical staff, demonstrating appropriate admission, discharge and transfer procedures. Collects detailed patient history and symptoms, including Vital Signs, providing appropriate care in a timely and cost-effective manner. Accurately and concisely documents services provided within the medical record in a thorough, timely manner. Consults and coordinates with medical team to assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care plans. Prepares, administers and records prescribed medications. Collects laboratory samples and perform lab testing in accordance with CLIA regulations and established policies and procedures. Demonstrates ability to perform laboratory Quality Controls and Assessments, and routine daily, weekly, monthly and periodic maintenance and function according to Laboratory Policy and Procedure. Reports adverse treatments or medications in accordance with current policies and procedures. Prepares patient meals. Ensures proper supplies, appropriate medical equipment and medications are available for patient care and Par levels meet facility needs. Maintains confidentiality of all Hospital and patient information as required by facility policy and HIPAA laws. Participates in QAPI activities including participation in accreditation preparation and survey process, and maintenance of accreditation, state, and CMS standards. Adheres to established facility/departmental policies and procedures.
