travel nurse source bloggerHello fellow nurses! My name is Christine Whitmarsh and I’m pleased to be the newest addition to the Travel Nurse Source team as a blogger here on the site. Here is a little about me so you can associate a name with a person. I earned my Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing from the University of Rhode Island. I think I was the only nursing major who was also a music minor. In light of the steadily advancing practice of complementary medicine so crucial to many nursing interventions, I suppose that could count as training for music therapy.

After graduating, I worked primarily as an orthopedic/neurological nurse while also volunteering as an EMT as I had done during nursing school. From there, I transitioned from clinical practice to a career as a freelance medical writer and journalist. For me, a career as a professional healthcare writer combines my foundation of healthcare knowledge and passion for writing and in many cases educating the public.

It’s exciting to be here on the site connecting with all of you and discussing current developments in nursing, the many benefits and facets working as a travel nurse, and other pertinent healthcare topics. With the recent shift of power in Washington, combined with so many unanswered questions about the future of healthcare, the one constant I have seen is the dedication of nurses to their patients and their profession. This is a remarkable time for healthcare and the future of nursing in America and I am happy to be a part of the dialogue.
