It’s The Nurses, Stupid!
I read a lot about the nursing shortage and everyone has a spin on the causes, ramifications and potential solution. But this article from Boston.com does a very nice job of putting the nurse’s role as caregiver and medical professional in perspective. So many times the nurse is portrayed as a doctor’s lackey that the truly critical role played by nurses is often diminished. This article identifies nurses accurately as the foundation of the health care system which reinforces the seriousness of the current and future nursing shortage.

Great article! I have been a traveling nurse for almost 6 years. And, indeed, Nurses ARE the ICU!
