Weekend requirements include every other weekend, along with 2 Mondays and 2 Fridays in a 6-week period. The unit provides care for primary cardiac and stroke patients. We manage stable pre and post care for pacemaker implantation and cardiac catheterization. Patients with unstable angina and low-risk chest pain evaluations are admitted. We also care for patients with congestive heart failure and various dysrhythmias. Nurses will run multiple drips including Cardizem, Dopamine, and Amiodarone. The unit typically experiences a turnover of 78 to 90 patients each week. A nurse with a 6-patient assignment may need to turn over their entire assignment frequently. A team lead is available to assist with admissions and discharges. This unit houses COVID-positive patients using Opti-flow and Bipap during surges. Telemetry and pulse oximetry equipment is used, along with high flow O2 for stable patients. No new BIPAP will be initiated for unstable patients, and certain restrictions apply to O2 administration. Candidates must be familiar with rapid response and code teams, as well as isolation precautions. All skills listed are essential for this position. All nurses will be responsible for managing COVID-positive patients with specific equipment and protocols. Compliance testing must be passed prior to the start for this specialty. This position also requires the ability to float as needed within the facility. Weekend shifts, including every other weekend, will be required. Team leads will assist nurses with admissions and discharges. Candidates must have experience interpreting dysrhythmias and managing complex cardiac cases. Non-rebreathers and BiPAP usage must be in accordance with established protocols. Nurses will be expected to handle high patient volumes efficiently while maintaining quality care. This role will not allow for blocking in scheduling.
