Worked a ICU travel assignment in 2012 at Mat-Su. The lobby had a huge fireplace...reminded me of a lodge. Only hospital I've worked in that I saw a glacier as I drove into the parking lot! Permanent staff was welcoming and helpful. Charting was off brand computer but they trained us and was not difficult, just different. Would I work there again? Absolutely!

I will never go to this hospital again!

I’ve had three bad experiences at this hospital. First I had a bowel obstruction that required emergency surgery. The surgeon nicked my intestines four times and never told me. She sent me home after 4 days, I was so sick I couldn’t sleep, I couldn’t eat and I was vomiting bile. I went back to see the surgeon and she said she could do surgery again. Also my incision was so infected they could not pull the staples. My daughter told the surgeon we needed a second opinion, she drove me to Providence Hospital. I spent the next two months in the hospital, I had a tube down my nose into my stomach keeping my stomach empty, I was on TPN being fed through a iv. It was horrible! Next I had a ER Doctor who I saw with two abscesses on my leg. I told him laticane and novacane does not work on me. He told me I’d have to just deal with the pain, he cut my leg twice and then took a large q-tip and cleaned them out. Did it hurt? Absolutely! It was horrible, I called him a few choice words not to be mean but because I was hurting so bad! Finally I go to the ER with excruciating stomach pain. The Doctor gave me pain and nausea meds and then a hour or so later accused me of drug seeking!! I was shocked and angry! I will absolutely never go to Matsu Regional Hospital again. They almost killed me, hurt me physically when he could have not been so brutal and then insults me. If I wanted a quick high I’d go buy some pot not spend thousands in the ER.
