Travel Nurse RN - PCU - $2,332 per week in Sharon, CT - Weekly Pay Range - $2099 To $2332 Summary : * Progressive care nursing jobs involve care for patients requiring close monitoring and frequent assessment, but who aren`t unstable enough to need ICU care. * PCU nurses monitor cardiac and other critical vital signs and detect any changes, thereby enabling intervention of life-threatening or emergency situations. * Reports to the Unit Supervisor. Duties and Responsibilities: * Provides nursing care to critically ill patients diagnosed with Heart attack, defibrillator or pacemaker implant or other cardiac condition. * Stroke. * Proficient in performing and interpreting EKG. Able to recognize Lethal Dysrhythmias . Proficient team member in Cardiac Code. * Monitor cardiac and other critical vital signs and detect any changes, thereby enabling intervention of life-threatening or emergency situations. Initiates and revises the patient`s plan of care based on continuing assessments. * Includes patient teaching and discharge planning in overall plan of care. * Incorporates clinical and technical aspects of care with nursing actions and interventions in accordance with established policies, standards and procedures. * Documents nursing interventions and patient response according to hospital policy. * Evaluates effectiveness of nursing interventions and methods of implementation. Practices within the limits of the state's Nurse Practice Act and health care facility and nursing administrative policies. * Supervises ancillary personnel in their performance of assigned job-related duties. * Ensures patient confidentiality and the rights of the patient. * Maintains and updates skills needed for excellence in patient care. * Administer complex Cardiac Medications including titration based on the patient's vital signs. Education & Experience Requirements: * Graduate of an accredited school of Nursing, with current licensure in good standing. * Minimum of One year of current hospital experience in PCU Specialty. * Evidence of current BLS and ACLS required. Travel Nurse RN - ER/Trauma - $2,318 per week in Hartford, CT - Weekly Pay Range - $2087 To $2318 Summary: * ER nurses provide care for patients from various types of illness or trauma requiring emergency attention and must be able to recognize and effectively treat life-threatening conditions. * Under general supervision, they deliver care to patients utilizing the nursing process of assessment, planning, intervention, implementation, and evaluation, in accordance with established philosophy. * Reports to the Unit supervisor of medical facility. Duties and Responsibilities: * Collects current symptoms, detailed patient history and then consults and coordinates with health care team members to assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care plans. * Performs triage, while considering both physical and psychosocial elements. * Manages basic life support needs and stabilizes patients until the attending physician is available, based upon nursing standards and protocol. * Records patients’ current vital signs. * Works directly under physicians, assisting them during exams, diagnostic testing and treatments * Prepares and administers (orally, subcutaneously, through an IV) and records prescribed medications. * Reports adverse reactions to medications or treatments in accordance with the policy regarding the administration of medications by a licensed registered nurse. * Provides IV therapy. * Cleans and bandages wounds. * Provides basic, bedside care. * Maintains proper supplies and appropriate medical equipment to care for patients. * Reports any suspected abuse to the appropriate agencies. * Initiates patient education plan, as prescribed by physician. * Teaches patients and significant others how to manage their illness/injury, by explaining: post-treatment home care needs, diet/nutrition/exercise programs, self-administration of medication and rehabilitation, as well as provides referrals to other healthcare professionals for follow-up treatment. * Displays professionalism while completing multiple urgent tasks in a timely manner. * Records all care information concisely, accurately and completely, in a timely manner, in the appropriate format and on the appropriate forms. * Proficient in recognizing life threatening dysrhythmia`s and participate in Cardiac Arrest Team.
